Our Visit to: THE AQUARIUM

Taking advantage of our spring vacations to Massachusetts, we visited The New England Aquarium. It was a great experience, I only paid for my entrance, since she was only 22 months old (great advantage!!!) , but, the parking lot was not so good. I paid 30 dollars for two hours. Ok…..we have to keep going!!!…

We saw penguins, turtles (a really humungous one), sharks, an octopus, sea stars, and other greats animals.

Also, I did an Aquarium Ring Book with all the great attractions they have there, with pictures and a quite information of them. Ok, it was good but not enough to keep Pinky’s attention for more than 3 minutes. Here’s about it:

Aquarium Visit Ring Book

I took the idea from this great blog: All about the journey. She made one about the Zoo (which I used with Pinky when we went to the Zoo. I made some arrangements since our zoo didn’t have all the same animals. Thanks Susan!).

So, now, we were visiting the aquarium, and I did this book for Pinky. I just visited the Aquarium web page to know which fish they had so I have an idea of what information I’ll need.

Aloha Friday #2

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too.

Today I was talking with my mom about the hot weather, when my 7 years old nephew told us that he prefers the snow (let me tell you that he has never seen snow in his whole life, since he lives in PR).

So, here’s my question: Which season do you love the most?

Here’s my answer: I love nice weather; not too hot, not too cold. Spring is great, but I am having problems with allergies. Fall is mine!!!

Spring 2010 Vacations (CT, MA, RI)

We love to travel and see different places around the world. There’s too much to see, yet!!! Since, Pinky was born we try to have at least vacations twice a year and every time go to a new place. This time we took a short road vacation all the way to the North. We had such a great time!

First, we stopped at CT. We wanted to walk around Yale University. Such an excellent university with lots of cultural places to see. We went to the Yale Center for British art museum, the Yale University Art Gallery museum and our passion: Hospitals (Yale New Haven Hospital). We are both doctors, but that’s another story!!!

Then, we drove to MA, directly to the hotel. We were soooooo tired. The next day, my hubby had a physicians conference, so Pinky and I went on a date to the aquarium. It was pretty good, but, oh my God, I had to pay 30 dollars for two hours of parking. I almost had an Heart attack!! Also if you add my entrance ticket, plus the wonderful souvenirs I bought, plus the great picture they took us at the entrance, it was too much. The best is that Pinky was so happy with the seals and turtles and penguin and fish. After two hours, we were so tired, so we went to the hotel, to eat and get a happy nap. In the afternoon, we look for daddy and drove around until HARVARD!!! So excited and a fairy place for us! Oh, I know! Silly us haha!

Finally, the last day (we just stayed for three days) we drove a little bit more around MA. And did a GPS scavenger. What’s this?….just use the GPS to find attractions around the place where you are. I just love my GPS!!!

We went to a beach!!! It was a sunny spring day, just perfect. So Pinky, had her second beach interaction (the first was at Puerto Rico when she was 7 months old). It was so funny! When her feet touched the sand, she was so worried about the strange things inside her shoes. I had to explain to her that it was sand and it feels like that. OOOOOHHHHH! Now it’s better mommy!

On our way home, we decided to visit RI, too. We used the GPS and found a beautiful place: Slater Mill Historic Site.

The driving back home was hard’ lot of traffic, darkness and, I was tired.

Thanks God, we made it safely.

What a great time with daddy and princess meeting our country.

So, we are waiting for our next adventure!

Art with ice

What am I doing today? (For the record, it was May 30, 2010; just writing late)

The fact is: Pinky loves to “paint”. This is the way she uses to call everything in relationship with art. Also, my nephew K is visiting and he’s getting so exiting about all the crazy stuff I have for Pinky. So, I have two hyper kids, bored in a hot afternoon and we’re living in an apartment. Crazy?….oh yeah!!

First, I thought what to do with the 7 yrs old boy. Maybe, help me to organize the activity?. Oh yes!!!, they love to feel useful and in charge of the youngest child. Therefore, we have to make some colorful cold ice to paint and he can do it. We took the ice tray, filled up with water, put two food colors drops inside, mixed and, then, inside the freezer. He was so happy and exited for all his help!

“Did you see that, Grandma? I did it all by myself!”

In the meantime, we sang, played, read and wait for the great moment.

So, after all this, lets paint!!!

Maybe, too cold and too messy, but they had a blast!!!

It was a great afternoon.

Aloha Friday #1

aloha-banner

Welcome to Aloha Friday!

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that people take it easy and look forward to the weekend (Great, yes?). So, we take it easy on Friday blog posts by sticking to just one quick question that surfers-by can answer with just a quick response themselves.

Here’s my question:

If you could choose one of your personality traits to pass on to your children, what would it be?

Here’s my answer:

I would love to pass on all my best traits to my baby, but if I have to select only one; I think it will be: PERSISTENCE. Times can be hard sometimes but you have to keep trying!

Happy Friday and wonderful Father’s weekend!
