Since organization is something missing around our “homeschool” and mommy gets “crazy” trying to explain to a toddler why it’s time to brush her teeth or take a bath….and go to sleep…..I am trying picture charts…
So far…..EXCELLENT!
Brush your teeth chart
(This is from Nick’s Jr.) She loves Dora! I put yellow dot stickers for morning and blue ones for night. The red one is a very happy face which let her know that she has completed the week so she can have a price- this was good until she got used to brush her teeth without complains, now she just enjoy her weekly job!
Good morning chart
Kisses for a new day, potty, get dressed, brush hair, fix bed, breakfast, brush teeth, start school (circle time), reading, art, free play, going outside. Most of the time we don’t follow it exactly depending of the things we have to do, except the ones before brushing her teeth (included-lol)!
Good night chart
I don’t remember where I found this one on internet, I just added the one for dinner and watch t.v. (yes, she watch her cartoons!)
We have bath time, pajamas, dinner, tv, teeth, story, go to bed and sweet dreams! (and…oopppsss…..I was reviewing the chart with Pinky when I noticed that I'd misplace the last 2 pictures….after I laminated it….lol)
And here is what Pinky thinks about her charts:
My funny little princess!
Do you use any chart or schedule with your little one???? Let me know, I want to read about it!
I am in LOVE with the Montessori method (ok, I said it!)…and all those beautiful resources out there…but what I don’t like are the prices…
I think about the price and if I really need it with just one kid to teach and enrolled to start “preschool” full time five days a week on September (so sad about this but mommy needs to take care of her unfinished career). In the meantime, I just want to try the “idea” behind these resources, so I have to come with our own educational, sort of Montessori “toys”.
Here are our beads from a Dollar tree store necklace. I just counted and cut! I think they served their purpose.
Love it!

At the beginning of April, Pinky got her first pet: A little beta fish! She was soooo EXCITED with her new friend (ok, maybe the first 2 days!). She helped mommy to prepare her new friend’s house: a bowl decorated with colorful stones, a plant and clean water. She wanted to take pictures with the fish, she called her daddy and talked about it and, also, she read a story to the fish. However, the little fish died three days after we brought him home!
I don’t really know what happened to our pet, it didn’t want to eat and just stayed next to the plastic plant all day long…Pinky just said it loved to sleep…. How could you explain to a little girl that her friend is not anymore with us…she kept believing it was sleeping!
Hubby, using his psychiatry knowledge tried to explain all those things about death and how Goldfish wasn’t with us anymore, etc…..lol….Pinky’s face was priceless….she couldn’t understand what her daddy was talking about….hey, she is just 2 and a half years old…!!!
So, mommy had to explain it just with mommy’s words:
Hey, baby….I think that Goldfish is sad….Maybe he misses his mommy and daddy! What do you think?
Do you know where do fish live? Do you know that the water in the toilet gets to the ocean? Maybe we can help him to get to the ocean with his family and don’t be sad anymore?
Result: Yes, mommy!!! I don’t want Goldfish to be sad!
We said bye bye to our fishy friend and wish him fun during his trip through the flushing! She was happy!!!
Sometimes a mommy has to step up!!!
The story behind this:
We went to an indoor playground; Pinky was playing when she noticed a little girl around her age with two huge silver earrings next to her. She tried to touch the earrings right away (good opportunity for mommy to teach her more about manners).
Maybe Pinky got so fascinated about the little girl with earrings that she just made some for herself, too.
Oh my! It was so funny when I saw her with these UNIQUE earrings….She looks just CUTE!!!
