The elf on the shelf day 6

Today, after school we managed to make a Holiday related craft. We made a Snowman! (or at least we tried). Also, someone wanted to join the fun!

So, Elfie Elizabeth is such a NICE elf and doesn’t like messes (so far!)

She used a tray. You know…..she needs something to carry the snow back home all the way from the North Pole!

The Elf on the shelf day 5

Today, Pinky had a play date with her best friend. They had a blast playing around and decorating gingerbread TRAINS! (the store was sold out of houses…and I was really lucky that there were exactly two gingerbread train kits available plus the girls didn’t mind doing trains instead). So, our little Elfie wanted to join the fun and tomorrow Pinky is going to find this:

Elfie hangs her own stocking (DIY)!

What a cutie is our Elfie! And she is very crafty, too!

Elfie’s stocking!

(Just cut some pieces of felt and glue on a mini stocking. For the face I used a piece of foam and draw the eyes and nose with a black pen and the mouth with a red one) Easy???

Next to Pinky’s stocking. Just right!

I know Pinky will LOVE IT!

Ready, set, go: Africa!

Here is, officially, our first continent study. It has been such a long time recollecting things for our Continent boxes and Pinky has had the opportunity to explore them whenever she feels like. However, I wanted to go over each continent with her. You know, nothing elaborated just something accord to my 4 years old interest.

Why did we start with Africa and not with North America? Well, I found that the best stimulus for us (setting up the learning material-(Me) and showing some interest about the topic (Pinky)) was following our daily life experiences.

A few weeks ago our beloved Daddy traveled to Africa (so lucky!). And, that was the best opportunity for us to know:

Where in the world is Daddy????

This unit is a continuation of the other Geography topics we have been studying so far.

Where is Africa?

Push pin the Continents activity she did at school. Here’s a post from How we Montessori showing the same kind of work her son did at school with the Australia map. Aren’t they A.M.A.Z.I.N.G???

Just adorable!!! This is a Mommy-daughter activity. I managed to get my hands DIRTY, too!

You will need a big cardboard paper, paint, paper towels (LOTS OF THEM!), paintbrushes, water, Africa map for reference and handprint-footprint animals templates to follow. This was a huge project (fun and cute but huge for Pinky). We did it just one night but it is better is you divided into 2 days if you have a young child or you will need the whole family extremities! LOL

Let the child paint the inside of Africa green and the water blue. Then, paint your hands and/or feet. We did it one at the time, alternating them and washing constantly to minimize the mess.

Well, I think I will let it here!

We have been doing more and more about Africa. Just simple activities but very fun!

Isn’t Africa so fun?

Christmas countdown!!!

Christmas dec1 087

Second year with our 25 Christmas books countdown! Last year Pinky LOVED IT! She woke up every single day excited to unwrap the “gift” just to find the book of the day. Go here.

This year we are going to do it a little bit different. First, we are not having the book on any particular order. And second, I didn’t get “crazy” preparing a craft or activity for each book. I will just enjoy Pinky’s beautiful face light up while unwraps the gift and cuddles next to me to read our book. JUST PERFECT!

Here are our 25 Books (we read the last one on Christmas morning). These are books we had already at home.
