Colorful Tray

Here is a mix of sensory activity and color learning. As soon as Pinky saw the tub, she got so excited and ready to star touching and having fun. For the sensory tub I used some white rice, black beans and orange popcorn (or is it yellow?)….ok I got confused about this one! Never mind; and I filled up with some colorful dinosaur stickers, buttons, letters, counting coins, and everything with color and kid safe. Here is what we got: A child interesting, full and diverse tub…ready to touch and get messy.

Here is the tray: one dollar at Dollar Tree store and with different dinosaurs’ colors so she can sort the objects in the tub. I didn’t have black, white and orange stickers, so everything with those colors went in the center of the tray.

We did some different things with this activity; here are some examples: sort by color, counting, shapes, textures (sensory), letters, and just a mommy and baby fun moment.

Egg Hunt!

This was her first Egg Hunt and it was great!!! Pinky had so much fun searching for the eggs and give them to me. Oh yeah! We had to practice at home before we hit to the egg hunt. By the way, it was my first time too. I think I was more excited than Pinky, haha!….so at the end we got 8 eggs and lots of fun!!! We are looking forward for next year….maybe we can find more…..and have double fun…

The multiple uses of a Colander

I love to do shopping at the Dollar Store. Every time I go, I find lots of different stuff that I can use to play with Pinky. That’s how I got the idea of use some cable ties and a colander to practice some fine motor activity. As soon as Pinky saw the tray, she turned so happy and started playing with the cable ties and introducing them in the holes. And I wonder: Who tought her how to do that?...haha
We could be able to practice some colors, too.

Also, she turned around the colander and tried to pull the cable ties, (she couldn’t since they are thick by one of the ends).

And pull, and pull…..until she noticed that pushing was better….

Another use found by my Pinky… It can be a great Hat!!!

And then…… A colander monster looking for a cute girl to kiss!

Sensory Fun Stimulation

As in many other places, we tried some sensory stimulation using some shaving cream. It was lots of fun for Pinky. As soon as she touched that white and great thing, she started laughing. We practiced some letters and shapes, and play with some plastic soldiers I got from the Dollar store. In one second, I turned around and she saw the opportunity to taste this great with thing. Oh yeah!!!! Her mouth was all white…..and I think it didn't taste so good……her face said everything….lol…..You know now why mommy told you: you can play but is not food!.....After clean her, we had more and more fun! It was a little messy but really fun. We have to try this another day……

(It is cold, white and soft)

(Just before she ate the shaving cream)

(That's not funny, mommy!!!)

(Rescue the soldiers! Where's the blue soldier? How many are yellow?)

(I got you, mommy!!!)

First Week- Letter A

Today we started with the preschool homeschool program for Marlee. It was such a great experience.

I introduced the letter A, first from her ABC book that we got from the library a few days ago. Second, I gave her the letter A worksheet, and whenever I told her that it was the letter A....she responded saying apple....it is funny but I think that is better to work with that or she will call apple to every A that she sees around. She loved to paint her letter, the whole paper, and her face with our color of the week: red. Yeah.....after she painted her shirt, I remembered to cover her clothes....thing to remember the next time! We have so much fun painting the letter and an apple and, at the same time, singing our own made songs....(Don't ask me about the songs because they're so originals that they get at the momment and later we forget them, we're always like that).

Then we made Marlee's favorite animal: an ALLIGATOR CRAFT. I saw it in this great blog, , and thought it will be fun to do it, and it was.

She was so proud when her father came home and saw her paintings and craft. And yeahhhhhh.....she kept calling APPLE the letter A...(lol)...We read some books about apples and alligators that we got from the library today....but she only liked the pictures....at least is something for a start. Also, we practiced our Spanish words: Agua at bathtime....it's the best time to talk about Water....

Tomorrow, I hope that we have a more relax and organized day, since I don't have to go outside.

We had a lovely and busy day. It was pretty good: playdate with friends in the morning, library (first time Pinky goes to a Library), and Spring clothes shopping for Pinky(we got lot of beautiful clothes for her and nice shoes and sandals too), dinner with dadda (Firecracker casserole and Greek green beans), a relaxing book time and then bedtime for Pinky and time for mommy and daddy to talk about the day.

*UPDATE*
During this first week, I introduced the letter A, apple, circles (we used a carterpillar as an example of circles), color red, number 1, ants (Bible study- Proverb 6:6-8), alligators. Also, we did some different activities with those themes. It seems that it was too much, but it wasn't. We did different things for some mins. (maybe less thant half an hour, since Pinky is only 19 months old). So, we had fun around the whole week with the letter A. Here are some pictures and about the worksheet that I used; I just got them from differents websites so now I don't remember which ones.
Caterpillar Craft (Circles)
Painting Red Circles (With the caps of bottles)

Circle Worksheet

Circle Activity (Sunflower filled with red painted rice)

Airplane Pilot (Social Studies- we read a book abouth airplanes and pilots)

Blessings to everyone!
